LENGTHENING OF SUBIC SHIPYARD - 6/10/2009
Further to our announcement dated 19.05.2009 regarding the shipyards operated by our exclusive principals KEPPEL PHILIPPINES MARINE INC. (KPMI) which is part of KEPPEL CORPORATION, we would like to inform you that the lengthening of SUBIC SHIPYARD's 350.000 DWT dry-dock from 350 meters to 550 meters is now complete making it one of the longest ship-repair docks in the world.
We would like to remind you that KEPPEL PHILIPPINES MARINE own/operate the following three (3) shipyards.
1. SUBIC SHIPYARD AND ENGINEERING INC (SUBIC SHIPYARD):
Oneof the biggest shipyard in Philippines with a drydock capacity of up to 350.000 dwt measuring 550 meters by 65 meters with a draft of 12.5 meters. It provides repair, conversion and building services for ship owners. It has undertaken the repair and conversion of supertankers, including the conversion of a single hull tanker to double hull.
Situated in the NORTH OF SUBIC BAY on the main island of LUZON, it is strategically located to serve vessels on the Asian route. It is 67 nautical miles by sea and 145 km by land from MANILA, the capital of the Philippines. Its favourable site protects ships against rough seas and strong winds. There is also adequate space and water depth for anchorage in the immediate vicinity of the yard.
Surface preparation including ultra high pressure water washing up to 35,000 PSI, grit blasting of cargo holds and internal tank coating are their speciality. The yard has its own copper slag processing plant in meeting demand for high quality grits.
The steel shop and fabrication yard are well equipped to handle all kinds of steelworks with such forming equipment as automatic oxycutting machines, bending and rolling machines and hydraulic presses. With its own workshop as well as portable tools and machinery, has the capability to undertake both routine and complicated machinery reconditioning such as: main auxiliary engine overhaul and reconditioning, boiler repair and modification, propel repair and etc. For ships with drafts of over 8.5 meters, the shipyard can bring its workshop to the sea!! The yard has its own 30 ton floating crane, three tugboats and one liveboat, capable of providing all sorts of services for emergency repairs at anchorage.
Shipyard has a pool of highly skilled workforce providing quality and on time services, trained in Keppel Shipyard, Singapore and in Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan.
2. KEPPEL BATANGAS SHIPYARD (KBS):
Major ship care center in Philippines servicing international and local ship-owners. With more than 20 years of experience, Keppel Batangas Shipyard(KBS) has undertaken extensive repair works on a wide range of vessels including bulk and container carriers, multi-purpose barges, dredgers, offshore support vessels, tugs, passenger ferries, pleasure yachts, ocean research vessels military and patrol crafts, fishing vessels, oil and LPG tankers. The yard has 50,000 dwt graving dock measuring 200 meters, by 38 meters with a draft of seven meters, and seven repair and building berths served by mechanical ship lift platform capable of drydocking vessels up to 20,000 dwt. Other key facilities include floating docks with repair capacity of up to 6,000 dwt, deep water wharves and comprehensive workshop facilities.
All its projects are competitively priced and carried out efficiently at a fast turn -around time, meeting exacting requirements of local and international ship-owners
3. KEPPEL CEBU SHIPYARD INC (KCSI):
Is the largest and most comprehensive ship care facility in the central part of Philippines, continually upgrading its facilities and equipment to keep pace with the rapid changes in shipyard technology. The yard maintains a 35.000 dwt graving dock measuring 210 meters by 30 meters, 4 slipways and a launchway with an aggregate 8.600 dwt capacity.
