ELGIN BROWN & HAMER PTY. LTD. - DURBAN - SOUTH AFRICA
The Elgin Brown and Hamer Pty. Ltd. Group of companies consists of eight (8) subsidiary companies in total, providing the international ship industry with a full in-house service in all aspects of ship repair. Elgin Brown & Hamer operate the first privately owned floating docks in southern Africa. The Group operates from Durban, East London, Cape Town (South Africa) and Walvis Bay (Namibia) to provide the international shipping industry with a full house service in all aspects of ship repair and dry-docking. This includes the provision of riding crews to vessels worldwide. The group repairs about 400 vessels each year, more than 80 of which are dry docked.
The increasing growth of business in recent years led to a floating dock being purchased by Elgin Brown and Hamer, coming into commission in April 1999. Eldock is the first privately owned dock in South Africa. However, as with all other ship repair companies, Elgin Brown and Hamer also has access to the state-owned graving and floating dock facilities operated by the National Ports Authority.
